THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR

World War II had a devastating impact on most nations and the USSR was no exception. However, it did deliver Stalin a significant military victory and reinforced the USSR's place in the world. Although fighting on the side of the Allies, Russia and the USSR soon became adversaries of the 'West' and led to the Cold War and separation of Soviet countries from the world, known as the Iron Curtain.
