FIVE-YEAR PLAN AND BEYOND

"The period 1928 to 1941 was one of enormous change" (Phillips, 2000). With Stalin's rise to power a new economic policy was introduced, collectivisation, which saw control of all aspects of Soviet's industry and economy fall into the hands of the State. 

 

Investigate the effects that the 'five-year plan', collectivisation and other new policies had on the Soviet state, its people, its relationship with other countries. The focus for this topic should be:

  • Why did Stalin introduce these new policies? 
  • How were they introduced and maintained? 
  • What did Stalin and the Communist Party want to achieve through these policies?
